What does Cherry explain as the difference between the socs and the greasers?
Cherry tells Ponyboy that Greasers and Socs have different sets of values. She tells him that the Greasers are more emotional, and that the Socs are more cool and sophisticated, and that the Socs don't mean half of what they say. Cherry says that the Socs have everything, and they keep looking for some other thing to satisfy them.

Ponyboy means that he and Johnny have a special relationship with each other because they have known each other for a long time and feel the same way about certain situations. I have a relationship like Ponyboy's and Johnny's with one of my closest friends. We have known each other for about 8 years, and have been best friends since the day we first met.
When and how did Pony's parents die?
Ponyboy said that him parents were killed in a car accident, though there no specific details as to when it happened, or what exactly happened. He does say that his father was only 40 years old at the time when he died.
What happens when Pony comes home after his curfew?
When Ponyboy come home after his curfew, he finds his eldest brother Darry, sitting on the couch reading the newspaper. Before Ponyboy can even walk through the door, his brother has crossed the room and starts yelling at him. Sodapop is telling Darry to stop, and for the first time ever, Darry yells at Sodapop. Next thing Ponyboy knew, he was against the door with his face stinging, realizing that his brother had slapped him across the face. It was the first time anyone in his family had ever hit him, and Ponyboy ran out the door and down the street with hot, angry tears streaming down his face.

Johnny likes it better when his father is hitting him because he says he feels like his father actually knows that he is there. In the book it says that Johnny is often ignored by his parents, and the usually don't know or care where he is.
