What does Pony mean when he says the Socs were "reeling pickled"?
When Ponyboy says that the Socs were "reeling pickled", he meant that those particular Socs were obviously drunk, making them more dangerous.
What major event happens in this chapter?
The major event in this chapter is when Ponyboy and Johnny were being attacked by Socs. One of the Socs, Bob, dunks Ponyboy's head into a fountain to make him stop breathing. While Ponyboy's head is in the fountain, Johnny takes out his six-inch switchblade and stabs Ponyboy's attacker. The other Socs run off, and Ponyboy is gasping for air while Johnny sits beside him, in a state of shock, saying "I killed him. I killed that boy."
How did the author foreshadow that johnny would use his knife in chapter 2?
The author foreshadowed that Johnny would use his knife in chapter 2 because Johnny thought that with the six-inch switchblade, nobody could attack him, and if they tried, he wouldn't let that happen. So that kind of meant that if someone were to attack Johnny again, they were going to die.
What would your advice be to Johhny and Ponyboy if they'd come to you for help instead of Dally?
My advice for Johnny and Ponyboy if they came to me for help instead of Dally would probably be the same as Dally's advice, but send them off to a safer place and I wouldn't give them give them a gun either.
